Michael Schmidt was born in Heilbronn, in Germany, in 1961. In 1989 he graduated in engineering from the University of Stuttgart. Later he attended the School of Design for the investment goods at the Arts Academy of Stuttgart. He worked as a designer for Mercedes Benz in the design and advanced conceptions office, position that he left in 1922 to start, with an associate, the design studio “Design WorX”. So, in 1995 he started his own design studio “code.2.design”. Main customers: Audi, ACO Passavant, BMW, Columbus Clean, Drabert, Duscholux, E_Plus, Falper, Hansgrohe OEM, HighTech Design Produkts, Porsche, Renggli Laboratories, Schärf Office Furniture, Samas Office Furniture Group. Code.2.design is official innovation partner of Fraunhofer Institute. The Scoop bathtub and basin and the new series Shape owe their existence to his collaboration with Falper.
